Alternatives to Microsoft Access on the Mac File Maker ProFileMaker is probably the best known database application for the Mac.It has a feature set comparable to Microsoft Access, but with a strong focus on forms (layouts) as the primaryway of accessing databases. Similar to Access, FileMaker stores your database logic and all the datain a single file. It also has some support for scripting, and offers options for publishing databaseson the web. However, it's also necessary to note that FileMaker is very different from Access. There is a strictdistinction between application logic and the underlying tables in Access. In FileMaker, logic anddata are more closely linked.

.Microsoft Access 2013 provides a rich platform for developing database management solutions with easy-to-use customization tools. If no end-user customization is required (including report modifications), you can choose to distribute those Access 2013 solutions so that they run without requiring a full installation of Access 2013. To do so, you must package and distribute your application with the Access 2013 Runtime. The Access 2013 Runtime is similar to previous runtimes in that all design-related UI is either removed or disabled. You do not need to buy any special product in order to redistribute the Access 2013 Runtime.
A friend has an Intel based Mac and would like to run an Access DB application that her Mother wrote for her. Apparently it comes with the runtime so a full MS Office isn't necessary. Aug 31, 2012 Then I installed the MS Access 2010 Runtime SP1 and the problem is solved. However, the current issue is I cannot find the full version MS Access 2010 Runtime with SP1. In the installation package, I can include the MS Access 2010 Runtime easily, but how can I pack the SP1 in the package to make it can be automatically installed?
You can freely redistribute it or point users to this download.Web based Apps for SharePoint that are built with Access 2013 do not require a runtime - only a supported web browser is required.
